I have been in practice for 35+ years and I believe that the key purpose of therapy is to give clients the tools necessary to have the quality of the life that they want to live. I am interactive and directive but I'm also warm and extremely supportive. I help my clients set goals and develop the skills to accomplish their objectives. When I work with teenagers I believe that it's extremely important to help them develop strategies and skills to address their current conflicts so that they can be proactive for the future stages of their lives.
When I work with couples, I approach the therapy from a prospective that they are two individuals from different life experiences and family history that can often contribute to a build up of misunderstandings and misinterpretations. There is no "good guy" or "bad guy" in a relationship. I help couples find a common understanding and improve their communication so that both individual's needs are met. I've worked with 100’s of couples where there's been indiscretions as well as other destructive behaviors and I have helped them heal from these detrimental experiences leading to stronger relationships then before.
